Following the Victoria BID green infrastructure audit in 2010, which GIC participated in, GIC (which was known as the Green Roof Consultancy at the time) was responsible for proposing and designing this green wall.
Seven storeys high and covering 475 square metres (including the centre section) it is one of the largest green walls in London. It was designed to attract pollinating insects and provide year-round interest. More than 20 species and 10,800 individual plants were used. The irrigation system uses rainwater collected from the roof.
GIC continues to be involved as a consultant to the maintenance contractor and 8 years after it opened, the green wall continues to thrive.
